Stoic Typist Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies only to Stoic Typist (macOS, Windows, and Linux), developed by LittleForest ("we", "our", "us"). Other LittleForest apps are covered by our general privacy policy.

Summary

Stoic Typist does not send your typing data or personal data to LittleForest. Everything you type, and every score you record, stays on your device.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any data from this app, on macOS, Windows, or Linux. Stoic Typist has no account or sign-in, and does not use analytics, advertising, cookies, cloud sync, or any third-party tracking. On the Apple App Store, this is shown as the "Data Not Collected" privacy label.

Store purchases are processed by Apple or Microsoft, as applicable; LittleForest does not receive your payment card details or store-account credentials.

Your Practice History

Your practice history is stored locally on your device by the app. Each saved run can include the local operating-system user name and computer name, the date and time, the character sets and time limit you chose, the characters the app showed you, what you typed, whether each keystroke was correct, and how long it took.

None of this is uploaded to LittleForest or to any third-party service. The user name and computer name are read from your own operating system so that the app can label runs on the scoreboard; they stay on your device.

If you use the Pro export feature, the app writes a CSV or JSON file to a location you choose. That file stays on your device, and what you do with it afterwards is entirely up to you.

You can delete your history at any time from within the app.

Distribution and Purchases

Stoic Typist is available through the Apple App Store (macOS), the Microsoft Store (Windows), and as a free download from l-forest.com (Linux).

  • macOS: Stoic Typist is free, with one optional in-app purchase, "Stoic Typist Pro", and three optional "tip" purchases that support development and unlock no features. Payment is handled by Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Pro status is determined on-device from the App Store receipt; we do not operate a backend server for purchase validation, and no receipt, Apple account identifier, or payment information is sent to LittleForest or to a LittleForest server.
  • Windows: Stoic Typist is free, with one optional add-on, "Stoic Typist Pro". Payment is handled by the Microsoft Store. Pro status is determined on-device by querying the Microsoft Store licence for this device; nothing is sent to LittleForest.
  • Linux: Stoic Typist is distributed free of charge from our website. All features are available and there are no purchases or in-app purchases.

Customers who bought Stoic Typist before it became free keep Pro at no extra cost. On macOS this is determined from the App Store receipt already on the device; on Windows it is determined from data the app itself stored on the device. Neither check involves LittleForest or any third party.

When a purchase occurs, the relevant store provider — Apple or Microsoft — processes the payment under its own privacy policy. LittleForest does not receive your payment details, and we do not use RevenueCat or any other third-party purchase service for Stoic Typist.

Stoic Typist itself does not use the network to upload typing data, analytics, diagnostics, or personal data. On macOS, StoreKit may communicate with Apple's App Store to complete, restore, or check a purchase. On Windows, the app may communicate with the Microsoft Store for the same purpose. The Linux version does not make network requests.

Data Sharing

Because Stoic Typist does not collect any data, there is nothing to sell, rent, or share.

Retention and Deletion

Because Stoic Typist does not collect personal data, LittleForest does not retain any personal data from Stoic Typist and has no Stoic Typist user data to delete. Your practice history and any files you export remain on your device and can be managed or deleted by you.

Children's Privacy

Stoic Typist is not directed to children under 13, and does not knowingly collect personal data from children or any other users.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page.
